So we decided to go to Switzerland for the first time together. My partner is half Swiss and she’s been trying to get me to go for there with her for years. I finally bit the bullet and we went out there. I was already prepared… I knew that whilst we were out there, I was going to propose to her – I’d been keeping the ring hidden for months 🙂
Finally! It’s been about six weeks since I last flew my quad. I’m not really happy with my Skitzo flight controller, I wish I’d just got another Lumenier Lux 2 with Betaflight to be honest. So yeah, I’ve been making excuses not to fly…
But not today! Today, I met up with Jerry and we ripped some packs up at our usual spot.
I can’t say it’s a smooth flight, I just went nuts.
We picked up a new kitten on Tuesday. Anyone who knows me knows I’m more of a ‘dog person’, but my last cat (Mog) that I adopted was the best cat ever. Unfortunately he died and I miss my friend, so I wasn’t in a rush to get another pet.
Anyway we spotted this little shit bag for sale in the same town, went to see her and she was lovely. She’s really friendly, doesn’t mind being held, loves her belly being rubbed and has cheered my girlfriend up no end!
I’ve never had a kitten before, but she’s not really any trouble. She attacks my feet but she’s very gentle, and if she wants to know where you are she’ll let out a high pitch meow until you call her.
We’re not too sure of a name yet, Yvonne likes Luna, it’s not my choice of name, but I’ll just call her Loony instead. We’ve settled for Ruby.
The picture below was taken once I got home from work, so this was her asking for attention 🙂
My Grandad was an inventor, and one of his best inventions (if he’d marketed it) was a spherical version of the Rubik’s cube. He invented it and applied for his patent two years before Rubik! The game itself was not the same, but principle behind the moving parts was essentially the same thing.
I don’t go running around telling everyone I meet about this, but when I do mention it, nobody tends to believe me until I tell them to go look it up.. Here’s a copy of his patent: GB13344259 – Amusement device – “Spherical 3x3x3”
The other invention that I remember the most as a kid was GB2134687A – Display Apparatus – “The Box”. This was a small wooden box that would plug into audio equipment. It had a diamond shape set of LEDs that would show the phase of stereo sound. Mono would just show up as line right through the middle. One of the benefits was that there were no moving parts so it was quicker to respond. Back then you’d be using a volume unit meter which had a needle.
Granada Studios bought some from him for studio use on Coronation Street back in the 80’s. The Point in Milton Keynes wanted a huge one that would fill a wall (because to the untrained eye, it’s a pretty light show), but backed out when they realised how expensive it would be!
I’m really pleased to see that someone has developed a software version of this, and not only that, taken the time to research a little about my Grandfather. You can see Chris Allinson’s work here. Chris, if you see this, I’d love for you to get in touch with me!
Oh it’s one of the worst times of the year for my wallet… The Steam summer sale is on. I’ve already been forced to buy Dishonored 2 – I wonder what else I’ll have to get… 🙂
Well, this could turn out to be a really bad idea… I’ve decided to create a brand new WordPress site, and host it myself. Apologies in advance if it’s really slow or not available. Nobody reads this anyway so who cares 🙂
